deeper roots ministry

sunday @ 9:15am

(meeting at Shawnee Heights Elementary School, 2410 SE Burton prior to our Celebration Service)

THERE IS A CLASS FOR YOU!   We sometimes slip up and call this by it’s old name, “SUNDAY SCHOOL,” but we call it “DEEPER ROOTS” to better describe the purpose of this hour of Bible study when we meet each Sunday. It is the study of God’s word and the connection we make with others that enable us to grow the “deep roots” that we need to hold on during the storms that we face during the week. There is a class to meet your needs.

CURRENT SCHEDULE:
Classes for our children and teens and
three options for adults:
  • In the hallway beyond the coffee station – starting a new study this week
  • In the back of the Gym – “Light enters the Darkness” (John’s gospel of Jesus’ life)
  • On the stage – “Walking through Luke’s gospel of Jesus’ life”

community ministry

our missional activities

At CrossRoads, we know that to really be like Jesus and to be the effective force that can help change lives and the city in which we live, we must be actively involved with those whom we live around, work with, and learn together. To be the body of Christ that we believe Jesus wants us to be; we are involved in these activities.

Carnival — each August we invite our community to a fun day that also includes a silent auction.
Egg Hunt — the Saturday before each Easter Is a day that we hide over 10,000 eggs and invite the kids from our communities to have a fun family day.
Florence Crittenton — our church has had a relationship with this ministry for about 10 years with monthly contacts with  snacks, pizza, and other goodies for the residents and including those who wish in our church activities
Fall Festival — In either October or November, we go out to our land at 41. & California and just have night of fun; we take hay rides. play games, roast hotdogs over a fire and end the evening with s’mores! This is a great time to introduce friends to a great church.
Baskets of Blessings — these baskets are prepared so that when you see a neighbor or coworker in need of some encouragement; you can take them a basket that will bless them. They are available in the back of the room.
Aged out Foster Children — we have seen the situation of those who turn 18 and are a part of the foster child program; at Christmas we do our best to provide a “Christmas Gift” to some of these kids who don’t have a lot and hope to expand this to a year-round ministry.
The Topeka Rescue Mission — not only do we make a monthly financial donation to this ministry, we also donate food, and other items to them several times a year. This is a very important ministry for our city and we are honored to support their efforts.

Over Seas Missions — our church helps support 2 missionary families at this time, they are both serving in the Czech Republic and Randy and Linda Freeman, Missionary Wellness Coaches. God is working through them and us.
